Sleep disorders include non-organic sleep disorders and Organic sleep disorders.
Non-organic sleep disorders
The sleep disorder is one of the major complaints. Emotional causes are considered to be a primary factor, and are not due to identifiable physical disorders.
Primary sleep disorders - dyssomnias, incl. primary insomnia, and parasomnias are caused by a traumatic event, children or adults under severe or traumatic stress, restless legs syndrome, increased physical or psychological arousal at night or difficult waking.
Primary insomnia is often caused by anxious, frustration. It starts at a young adult or in middle age.
Parasomnias are primary sleep disorders, including nightmare disorder, sleep terror disorder.
Narcolepsy is Dyssomnia, may include “sleep attacks”, cataplexy, hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations, and sleep paralysis.
Circadian rhythm sleep disorders are sleep-wake schedule disorders with delayed sleep phase type, jet lag type, or shift work type.
Primary hypersomnia (Kleine-Levin syndrome) is “sleep drunkenness”, start at a young adult.
Other sleep disorders:
* Excessive daytime sleepiness,
* Psychological disorders with sleep disturbance,
* Sleepwalking disorder.
