Primal Therapy, or Primal Scream therapy, rejects analysis and verbalization.
This therapy is based on the theory that the unconscious can store feelings of negativity created by past events (the Primal); distress which has occurred at birth or during infancy can resurface as neuroses.
The therapist encourages clients to identify and relive early traumatic experiences by the use of cathartic techniques and to release anger and other painful emotions by aggressive behaviours such as screaming, crying, and the beating of objects.
The therapy takes the client back to the ‘primal scene’ where trauma can be re-experienced as an emotional cleansing.
When this approach is used by a therapist it is usually in addition to their main type of therapy.
Counselling and Psychotherapy may be provided via Skype and FaceTime in the comfort of your home, office or any place of your choice.
