Holism is the theory that certain wholes are greater than the sum of their parts. It is the opposite of atomism (117).
In Counselling and Psychotherapy it is the treating of the whole person, rather than just the symptoms or a disease.
Gestalt therapy takes into account that certain wholes are greater than the sum of their parts, and the whole person is greater than just the symptoms of a disease.
The therapists focus on the whole person including thoughts, feelings, behaviour, body sensations, dreams, and integration, or how the many parts of the person fit together, and how the client makes contact (interacts) with the environment.
