Exposure and response prevention
Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is a treatment for a variety of anxiety disorders.
It is a technique of Behavioural therapy based upon the principles of classical conditioning.
The aim of exposure therapy is disappearance of panic attacks, residual and sub-clinical avoidance (116).
You may practice some of the steps with your therapist, but most of the time you will be doing it on your own, at a pace you feel comfortable with (116).
This approach may be suitable if your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is mild, and you have the confidence to try out ways of helping yourself (116).
If you require help and advice Counselling and Psychotherapy may be provided via Skype and FaceTime in the comfort of your home, office or any place of your choice.
