Eating disorders in men
Is it different for men?
Eating disorders do seem to have become more common in boys and men.
Eating disorders are more common in occupations which demand a low body weight (or low body fat). These include body building, wrestling, dancing, swimming, and athletics.
It may be that men are now seeking help for eating disorders rather than keeping quiet about them (15).
This helps you to get back to regular eating, so you can maintain a steady weight without starving or vomiting. A dietician can advise you on healthy eating (16).
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) are recommended. If you require help and advice Counselling and Psychotherapy may be provided via Skype and FaceTime in the comfort of your home, office or any place of your choice.
