Counselling psychology and Counselling 

Counselling applies Client-centred approach, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural approaches, facilitates personal and interpersonal functioning across the lifespan with a focus on emotional, social, vocational, educational, health-related, developmental, and organizational concerns, normal developmental issues and everyday stress, and the problems associated with physical, emotional, and mental disorders. The aim of counselling is to help people improve their well-being, alleviate distress, resolve crises, and increase their ability to live more highly functioning lives. 

Main therapeutic approaches of Counselling psychology are Client-centred approach, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches. 

Methodology of Counselling psychology activities include teaching, psychotherapeutic and counselling practice; career development, assessment, supervision, and consultation.  Counselling psychology uses a variety of methods to help individuals, groups and organizations to function optimally or to mediate dysfunction. It applies problem-specific and goal-directed approach, brief or long-term interventions using psychotherapy and other interventions in order to treat clients. 

The aim of Counselling psychology is to help people improve their well-being, alleviate distress, resolve crises, and increase their ability to live more highly functioning lives. Psychotherapy tends to deal with more deep seated and enduring personal issues. 

Counsellors are using counselling and other interventions in order to treat clients; working at the universities, hospitals, schools, governmental organizations, businesses, private practice, and community mental health centres. 

Common issues which counselling can be applied to include Anxiety, Depression,  Relationship problems, Career development, Stress/anger management, Bereavement, Self development, Change.
