Contingency management is a technique of Behavioral Psychotherapy.
Contingency management provides rewards for desired behaviour and removes reinforcement from undesired behaviour.
The second person monitors the behaviour and provides the reinforcers. It is usually a part of a more general programme. The steps of contingency management intend to define and identify the stimuli and reinforcements, change the reinforcement, and monitor progress. The changes are limited and do not generalize to other situations.
