Being in debt
Being in debt can make you feel that everything is out of control and there is nothing you, or anyone else, can do about it. You may feel hopeless, especially if your debt is getting worse. You may feel embarrassed to talk to anyone about your financial situation. You may feel guilty - that the problem is your fault, even though it's been caused by your mental or physical health problems. You may feel depressed and anxious (59).
