Abuse can be emotional, physical or sexual. Abuse is cruel and violent treatment, use of insulting and offensive language, sexual assault.
Abuse is where your treatment by others becomes harmful to you, including:
* date rape, involving unwanted sexual violation by a social acquaintance in the context of a consensual dating situation;
* abuse associated with racism, discrimination against people based on their skin color or ethnic heritage;
* abuse associated with sexism, discrimination against people because of their sex;
* abuse associated with ageism, prejudice against older people.
